Leo XIV Appoints Radical Left-Wing Bishop in Brazil
Posted by: Stone - 11-05-2025, 11:36 AM - Forum: Pope Leo XIV - No Replies

How true these words still ring: “Well, we are not of this religion. We do not accept this new religion. We are of the religion of all time; we are of the Catholic religion. We are not of this 'universal religion' as they call it today-this is not the Catholic religion any more. We are not of this Liberal, Modernist religion which has its own worship, its own priests, its own faith, its own catechisms, its own Bible, the 'ecumenical Bible' - these things we do not accept.” (Archbishop Lefebvre Sermon, July 29, 1976)

Pope Leo XIV appointed today Joaquim Giovani Mol Guimarães, 65, as Bishop of Santos in São Paulo, Brazil.

He was ordained a priest in July 1988 and appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Belo Horizonte in February 2006. On February 24, 2025, he was promoted to Coadjutor Bishop of Santos.

He served as Rector of the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Minas Gerais (PUC-Minas) from 2007 until 2022. It is the largest Catholic university in the world.

Aligned with Marxist-inspired Revolutionary Ideas

In September 2016, Brazil's Marxist-inspired president, Dilma Rousseff, was impeached and removed from office due to fiscal accusations.

During this time, Auxiliary Bishop Mol spoke publicly in her defense.

He warned against political forces that he believed had harmed democratic life. He participated in a rally featuring union and social movement symbols (see video below). Without naming individuals, he criticized "traditional politicians."

2016: Introducing "Social Names" for Gender-Disordered Students

In 2016, as rector of PUC-Minas, Bishop Mol issued an administrative order introducing the concept of a "social name" at the university.

This name reflects a "gender identity" rather than the legal name.

In March 2017, Bishop Mol published a piece on Cimi.org.br titled "The Conservative Turn Threatens the Poor," in which he criticized social and economic policies perceived as conservative and neoliberal.

Supporting Abortion Activists, Against "Forced Heterosexuality"

In April 2016, Auxiliary Bishop Joaquim Mol, in his role as rector of the university, permitted a series of discussions that promoted radical gender ideology and abortion. The central theme was "decolonial feminism." No Catholic voices were invited.

The opening lecture was given by Rita Laura Segato. She is a prominent abortion activist who opposes "forced heterosexuality." She signed a manifesto in support of legalizing abortion in Brazil.

Other speakers included government officials who were implementing gender programs in public schools.

The traditional family was presented as a form of "oppression" and a tool of "colonial patriarchy."

Attacks Against John Paul II and Benedict XVI

According to BrasilDeFato.com.br, in September 2019, Bishop Mol recalled that, after "a period of reactive posture" during the pontificates of John Paul II and Benedict XVI, Francis had now vigorously resumed the Council's orientation, valuing "synodality."

Bishop Mol warned that synodality has not been well received by "some groups within the Church."

He saw great resistance among those who do not accept change and doubt the Pope's guidance. "These are people who react to the council with hurt, sadness, and resentment," he commented.

New Year Dream: "Away with Ultra-Conservative Catholics!"

In January 2022, Bishop Mor called for the “urgent and definitive change of the president [Jair Bolsonaro] and his cronies”.

In the same post, he longed for the "strengthening of progressive social movements", the "revitalization of liberation theology", "support for Pope Francis", and "the discrediting of fundamentalist, ultra-conservative Catholics".

Leo XIV Rejects the Title “Co-Redemptrix” for Our Lady

gloria.tv | November 3, 2025

The Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith will publish a new doctrinal note titled Mater Populi Fidelis (Mother of the Faithful People) tomorrow. Main parts are already published on MessaInLatino.it.

Pope Leo XIV approved the document, which was signed by Cardinal Tucho Fernàndez, who is both a soft-porn author and the Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

Core Message

The document discusses several titles historically attributed to the Virgin Mary.

The main part is about the title "Co-Redemptrix". Number 22 reads:

"Given the need to explain Mary's subordinate role to Christ in the work of Redemption, it is always inappropriate to use the title 'Co-Redemptrix' to describe Mary's role. This title risks obscuring the unique salvific mediation of Christ and can therefore generate confusion and imbalance in the harmony of the truths of the Christian faith. [...]

When an expression requires numerous and continuous explanations to prevent it from straying from its correct meaning, it does not serve the faith of the People of God and becomes inappropriate."

Historic Background

This title has been used and discussed since the 15th century.

Attempts to proclaim the fifth Marian dogma of the Co-Redemptrix were prevalent throughout the 20th century, but Pius XII vetoed them.

Pius X invoked the title in a prayer that became part of a church document (AAS [6] 1914, 108). Pius XI also used the title, as did John Paul II at least seven times.

Italian Synod Approved Invalid Female Deacons

[Image: 1mtg2piu2xbntb6uwquor982grjb4mnt1kl6g4c?...1762142281]

gloria.tv | November 2, 2025

On October 25, the Italian Synod approved a final document of proposals accepting homosexuality and also calling for the invalid ordination of women to the diaconate.

Section 71c of their document states that the Italian Synod "promotes research projects of theological faculties and theological associations to offer a contribution to the deepening of issues relating to the diaconate of women initiated by the Holy See."

This section regarding the female diaconate was the least popular among participants at the synod, passing with 77% approval.

The document was warmly welcomed by the Italian bishops, including its president, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi of Bologna. He urged the bishops to implement the proposals within their respective dioceses.

The day before the vote, Cardinal Zuppi celebrated Vespers for traditional Catholics in Rome.

Msgr. Bugnini: 'We Made the Liturgy Pleasing to Heretics'

TIA [slightly adapted and reformatted, emphasis in the original] | November 1, 2025

In 2011, a reader made a correction to one of our quotes of Msgr. Annibale Bugnini, architect of the New Mass, in which he was purported to have said this about the liturgical reform: "We must strip from our Catholic prayers and from the Catholic liturgy everything which can be the shadow of a stumbling block for our separated brethren, that is, for the Protestants."

It turns out that this quote was a summary of a larger quote. Queen of Martyrs Press kindly uploaded a scanned photocopy of the original newspaper clipping, which gives us the full text of Bugnini's words. We reproduce the original document, which has the same meaning of the commonly used summary. His words make it evident that he planned to destroy the liturgy and make it pleasing to the Church's enemies.

In the March 19, 1965, edition of L'Osservatore Romano, Bugnini wrote about some of the changes made to the prayers of Good Friday. In the excerpt below right, Bugnini reveals the reason behind this and many other changes, affirming in clear words that the goal of the Liturgical Reform was to make the liturgy as pleasing as possible to heretics, a goal that was born specifically from the ecumenical climate of Vatican Council II.

The translated text can be read below left column, taken from the highlighted sections in yellow, below right. A larger copy can be read here.

Quote:
Msgr. Annibale Bugnini

In the ecumenical climate of the Second Vatican Council, it has been noted in many quarters that some expressions of the Orationes Solemnes of Good Friday sound pretty bad [or "rather off"] today. It has therefore been persistently asked whether it would be possible to attenuate [or "tone down"] some of the phrases.

It is always regrettable to have to touch venerable texts, which have nurtured, so effectively, Christian piety, and which still retain the spiritual fragrance of the early Christian ages of the Church. Above all, it is difficult to retouch literary masterpieces of unsurpassed form and conceptuality. Nevertheless, it was deemed necessary to undertake the work, so that no one would experience spiritual discomfort in the prayer of the Church.

The revisions were limited to what was absolutely necessary... The seventh prayer bears the title: "For the unity of Christians" (not "of the Church," which has always been one). We no longer speak of "heretics" and "schimatics," but of "all brothers who believe in Christ." The complete text says: [he provides some of the new texts, the new prayers V, VI and VII mentioned above]

Scholars will consider and highlight the biblical and liturgical sources from which the new texts, carefully crafted by the Consilium Study Groups, derive or draw inspiration. And let us also note that the work has often proceeded "with fear and trembling," having to sacrifice much-loved expressions and concepts, now long familiar.

How could we not regret, for example, the "ad sanctam matrem Ecclesiam catolicam atque apostolicam revocare dignetur" ["and recall them to our holy mother the Catholic and Apostolic Church"] of the seventh prayer? And yet, love for souls and the desire to facilitate in every way the path of union with our separated brothers, removing every stone that might even remotely constitute a stumbling block or cause for discomfort, have led the Church even to these painful sacrifices."

(L'Osservatore Romano, March 19, 1965, p.6)
