Concerning the free-standing altar, in the new church in St. Marys, KS, the below article, the author gives reasons for the free-standing altar. All highlighting is the authors, except for the red, which is mine.
The author wrote -
"a free-standing altar is ideal",
- an old 1910 Catholic Encyclopedia explains, "Hence it [the high altar] must stand free on all sides,
- and a priest will now be able to incense all sides.
Since when is a free-standing altar ideal? If it was ideal, why have the churches from old, never made that their norm?
About the incensing of all sides of the altar, "not just the front" - Has God been short changed for all of these years with the altar only being incensed from the front and sides only?
“The Sanctuary” - link to article
By Fr. Joseph Wood
he sanctuary is the most sacred part of the church, home to the altar and, thus, the tabernacle where Our Lord dwells among us. In the Immaculata, we will have a more noble sanctuary, befitting the worship of Almighty God. The Latin word for "sanctuary" implies a place that is set apart, a place that is limited to certain people or events. We see this boundary in the altar rail; in the liturgy, only certain people can pass beyond it. This should teach us that the sanctuary is not like the rest of a church. It hearkens back to the Holy Holies of the Old Testament Temple.
The altar is obviously the focal point, not just of the sanctuary, but of the whole church. It is, in a way, the very reason the church exists. On the altar, every day, the Sacrifice is offered so that each of us may partake of the graces Our Lord intended for us when He died on the Cross. The altar itself is another sign of Our Lord. As we priests approach the altar for the first time at Mass, we pray: "Take away from us our iniquities, we beseech Thee, O Lord, that we may be worthy to enter with pure minds into the Holy of Holies, through Christ our Lord. Amen."
One difference in the Immaculata will be a free-standing altar. For many of us, it may be foreign or even a novelty. In fact, for the full solemnity of the liturgy, a free-standing altar is ideal(as one can witness if you visit the main churches of Rome.) [/color]As the Old Catholic Encyclopedia from 1910 explains: "Hence it [the high altar] must stand free on all sides, allowing ample room for the consecrator to move around it. As its name indicates, the high altar, being the chief place for the enactment of the sacrificial function, is to be prominent not only by its position but also by the richness of its material and ornamentation." As a practical example, the priest, during a High Mass, [/color][/color]will now be able to incense around the entire altar, not simply the front.
In the rendering, many of you also noticed a kind of "crown" hanging from the ceiling above the altar. Traditionally there was some covering above every altar, though the forms varied: you might be familiar with various canopies or baldachinos from Roman churches. A tester is a form of this covering that hangs from the ceiling to symbolically crown the altar and draw attention to the dignity of the place.
What you see around the sanctuary is a colonnaded ambulatory: a place where sacristans and ministers can circulate with ease and dignity. This is another traditional or classical architectural element that makes the sanctuary stand out. May all these details provide a more worthy home for Our Lord, under Our Lady's mantle, to help you participate more deeply in the liturgy and thus save your souls.

After-School Satan Clubs Are Hot, Hot, Hot!

ZH | MAY 13, 2023
Following a major legal victory in the free speech department, after school Satan Clubs are picking up steam.
Launched in 2020 and promptly opposed by most parents, the clubs, associated with the Satanic Temple, are being pitched as an alternative to Christian after-school groups for those who identify as agnostics, atheists and religious minorities, such as pagans.
Last Monday, the Satanic Temple and the ACLU scored a legal victory after the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania ruled against the Northampton County school district, which banned the club from meeting on its grounds.
"In a victory for free speech and religious freedom, a federal court has ruled that the Saucon Valley School District must allow the After School Satan Club to meet in district facilities," the ACLU said in a statement.
Totally not Satanic?
The PR campaign behind the Satanic Temple is a sight to behold. Founded in 2014, the organization claims to "encourage benevolence and empathy, reject tyrannical authority," and says that members should use "practical common sense" and stand up for justice.
Kid-friendly!
Congregations tell those interested that if they're trying to "sell my soul, get rich, join the Illuminati, etc.," that they should look elsewhere.
"We’re definitely not interested in having children identify as satanists," said satanist Rose Bastet, who has been involved in the Satanic Temple for four years, and is one of the After School Satan Club volunteers at B.M. Williams Primary in Chesapeake, VA. Bastet spearheaded the effort to get the club into the school in October 2020 - a process which took a long time because the school was "giving us the runaround," she said, adding that "they were in the background looking for any way that they could prevent us from meeting."
Ya think?

Just nature stuff!
According to Bastet, Satan Club is just teaching kids about nature and whatnot.
"One of our meetings a couple of months ago, we learned about Virginia native bats," she said, adding "This last meeting, we had one of the parents in the club volunteer to bring in a bunch of bones and fossils that she and her husband have found in Virginia."
Neat!
That said, the 'curriculum' could change this fall as the club seeks to integrate the seven tenets of the Satanic Temple, which include "compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason," and that "beliefs should conform to one’s best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit one’s beliefs."
"We just came out with a book that is like the children’s version — or I should say a very sweet way to interpret — the tenets in a very understanding way that children could understand. So we might start actually using this book to talk to the kids about our seven tenets," said Everett, adding "We have a lot of big plans for next school year."
We bet they do...

Australia's Regime Seizes Catholic Hospital
gloria.tv [slightly adapted]| May 11, 2023
Canberra Archbishop Christopher Prowse is “stunned and shocked” at the regim's decision to forcibly take over the 1,800-staff Catholic Calvary Hospital run by sisters.
Chief Minister Andrew Barr, the first homosexual head of a state in Australia, led the takeover after demanding abortions be carried out in line with "human rights" - as he sarcastically put it.
The hospital refused to perform abortions and opposed the introduction of assisted suicide.
Archbishop Prowse wrote on May 9 that the state "compulsorily acquires" the hospital without warning or discussion. This intervention by the regime could set the stage for future “acquisitions” of any religious institution, he added.

Mexico during the Cristero War
Part I. The Masonic Agenda against the Church
by Fr. Denis Fahey, C.S.Sp.
TIA| July 6, 2012
Fr. Fahey was writing 'Secret Societies and the Kingship of Christ' in 1927, while the Calles government was striving to wipe out the Catholic Church and her influence from Mexico. He recorded the important role of Freemasonry in generating this Revolution, citing original documents from Masonic journals.
Given the new momentum of the Cristeros War (1926-1929) acquired today, we selected some excerpts from chapter V of Fr. Fahey’s book focusing on how Freemasonry was operating in Catholic countries. We took the liberty to slightly adapt the text by including some of Fahey’s footnotes in the article. - TIA
The forces that control Masonry proceed slowly and cautiously, resulting in the acceptance of the so-called "progressivist" ideas. At a point when the people are completely blinded and powerless, those leaders considered to be moderate and who figured on the stage during the period of preparation disappear. More fanatically progressivist leaders replace them to serve their turn. …
During the years of preparation, Masonry aims at getting a hold on key governmental staff positions. Thus, even the good men who become ministers find themselves very frequently powerless. Needless to say, divisions among Catholics who should stand for the Kingship of Christ permit this staffing process to go on unheeded and unchecked.
Masonic Decisions of 1906
At the 1906 General Convention of Latin-American Lodges, held in Buenos Aires, it was resolved, among other things, that religious persecution should be initiated and carried out zealously by every possible means. The following Articles, taken from the minutes of the Convention in question, embody the program of action:
“Art. 5. Latin-American Masonry shall oppose by every possible means clerical propaganda as well as the establishment and development of religious communities. It shall, in addition, do all in its power to get these communities banished from the different countries under its jurisdiction. Accordingly, Masons shall not send their children to be educated in Catholic educational establishments, and shall use their influence over their wives and children to keep them from going to confession;
“Art. 6. Masons shall try to stir up the zeal of the members of the different political parties for Masonic ideals: the separation of Church and State, the expulsion of religious communities; civil marriage and divorce, purely secular education, the exclusion of religious from hospitals, the suppression of military chaplains.”
“Art. 10. Masonry shall strive to get the representative at the Vatican withdrawn, thus showing that the Papacy is no longer considered an International power.”
The Example of Mexico
Mexico is a typical example of the rapidity with which the closing stages of the process of disruption may be carried through.
Mexico was ripening for the Masonic harvest, according to A. Preuss in his October 15, 1913, article in Fortnightly Review. The distinguished writer, in describing the state of religion in Mexico, pointed out that the Indians never lost the faith taught them by the first Spanish missionaries. Similarly, the Mexican women were devout and pious. Mexican men of the so-called educated classes, in contrast, were mostly Masons.
![[Image: G_016_Calles.jpg]](https://traditioninaction.org/History/HistImages/G_016_Calles.jpg)
President Plutarco Calles, center, came to power to execute the Masonic plan to destroy the Church
Preuss added that he had often assisted on Sundays at the sad spectacle of men accompanying women to the door of the church, but then lighting a cigar and sitting down outside until the end of Mass. Doubtless, he commented, it would be wrong to say that all the men behave in this way, but the number of those who did so was considerable. They were the “liberal” as opposed to the “fanatical” Catholics. In its August 1926 issue Masonic Tidings those men and their works were extolled in flattering terms were described as having a “strong character.”
![[Image: G_016_Persecution2.jpg]](https://traditioninaction.org/History/HistImages/G_016_Persecution2.jpg)
The world ignored the Calles' government massacre of Mexican Catholics
![[Image: G_016_Persecution3.jpg]](https://traditioninaction.org/History/HistImages/G_016_Persecution3.jpg)
According to the English review, The Patriot (November 25, 1926), Masonry in Mexico is particularly under Jewish control. The R.I.S.S. (Revue Internationale des Societés Secretes - International Review of Secret Societies) always speaks of [Mexican President] Plutarco Elias Calles as a half-Jew.
The press of the world, after having made no attempt to inform its readers of the real causes of the events chronicled about Mexico, nor of the lengthy preparations for them, discreetly lets the curtain fall on yet another country from which Our Lord has been expelled, at least so far as human legislation can do it. ...
The majority of Mexican Catholics would have laughed incredulously a century or so ago if told that such a state of affairs was coming in their country. There were clouds on the horizon even then, for anti-clericalism was rife; but the present-day systematic uprooting of the Catholic Faith and the cutting off of the minds of the coming generations from all contact with it would have then seemed impossible. Could we not say that the lack of Catholic understanding by Catholics of the aim and methods of Masonry has contributed greatly to the present cataclysm?
As the final stage in the attack on the Kingship of Christ in Mexico was accelerated by the Masonic Convention of Buenos Aires in 1906, it may be of interest to note that an International Convention of delegates of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite was announced for the same city in 1927. Representatives from the Supreme Councils of the following countries would be in attendance: England and Wales, Ireland, Scotland, France, Belgium, Low Countries, Switzerland, Italy, Portugal, Slovakia, Poland, Serbia, Rumania, Turkey, Greece, Egypt, United States, Canada, Mexico, Cuba, San Domingo, Panama, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Chili, Ecuador, Colombia, Uruguay and Venezuela.
What fresh advances in the path of progress had the representatives of Ireland the happiness of decreeing there?
[Note: Ireland was the only country that broke diplomatic relations with Mexico in response to the atrocities committed by the Calles’ government against Catholics.]

FDA: People can eat THESE Gene-Edited Pigs |

It's a-comin' ...
FDA: PEOPLE CAN EAT THESE GENE-EDITED PIGS
futurity.org | May 8, 2023
WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY
The United States Food and Drug Administration has authorized gene-edited pigs entrance into the food chain for human consumption—as German-style sausages.
Gene-editing can make changes in an organism’s DNA that could occur in nature or through selective breeding but would take much longer without a tool like CRISPR.
The FDA authorization is investigational, and limited to these particular pigs, but shows that gene-editing livestock to quickly produce desirable traits for improved food production is a viable strategy for helping feed the planet’s growing population.
“It’s important for a university to set the precedent by working with federal regulators to get these animals introduced into the food supply,” says Jon Oatley, a professor in the School of Molecular Biosciences in Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. “If we don’t go through that process, all of the research we’re doing is for naught because it will never make it out into the public.”
Oatley uses the gene-editing tool CRISPR to improve genetic traits in livestock and is working toward an FDA approval for a line of gene-edited pigs. He undertook the investigational food use authorization process for five gene-edited pigs to demonstrate that food made from the animals is safe to eat and that it is possible for an academic institution to achieve this type of FDA authorization.
The two-year-old pigs were processed at the university’s Meat Lab, and the US Department of Agriculture inspected the meat, as it does with all meat products. Working with the Meat Lab, meat scientist Blake Foraker made some of the pork into sausages, which will be used in catering services that raise travel funds for the student members of the university’s Meat Judging team.
The pigs were originally gene-edited in a way that would enable researchers to use them to sire offspring with traits from another male pig. Known as surrogate sires, this technology first gene-edits male animals to be sterile by knocking out a gene called NANOS2 that is specific to male fertility. These animals can then be implanted with another male’s stem cells that create sperm with that male’s desired traits to be passed on to the next generation.
Essentially a high-tech form of selective breeding, surrogate sire technology can greatly expand dissemination of valuable genetics in livestock. It has the potential to not just improve meat quality but also the health and resilience of livestock in the face of changing environmental conditions, a critical goal for increasing protein sources in developing nations.
The surrogate sires’ progeny, which are themselves not gene-edited, have not yet been reviewed by the FDA for possible inclusion in the food chain. Securing the investigational approval for these five pigs required clearing a number of hurdles. The FDA waives some fees for nonprofits like universities, but by the time the process was completed, Oatley’s team had spent two years and approximately $200,000 collecting data for this authorization.
“The original intent in making these animals was to try to improve the way that we feed people,” he says. “And we can’t do that unless we can work with the FDA system to get these animals actually into the food chain.”
Only one other organization, a company by the name of Acceligen, has had a gene-edited animal receive the FDA ok to enter the food supply. In 2020, the FDA made a low-risk determination for products made from “Slick-Haired Cattle,” which are gene-edited to have coats that increase the animals’ resilience to higher temperatures.
Other companies have had genetically modified animals approved by the FDA, but the approach was transgenic which is a different technology involving inserting DNA from outside species into the genome of an organism. Gene-editing is a modern, cutting-edge technology that works only within a species’ DNA and can make changes that could come about naturally or through traditional breeding practices.
The public often holds many misconceptions about gene-editing, Oatley says. He hopes this example will help dispel misinformation and improve perceptions of this technology.
“There’s a trust that comes with university-based research,” he says. “We just want to make sure the research is valid, and the animals we produce are healthy.”

Trudeau Liberals declare support for ‘mandatory vaccination’ to ‘finish the fight’ against COVID
‘The totalitarian policies passed at a Liberal convention today will re-emerge as the Trudeau government legislation and regulations of tomorrow,’ said Campaign Life Coalition’s Jack Fonesca.

May 8, 2023
OTTAWA (LifeSiteNews - adapted) — Canada’s Liberal Party, under the leadership of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, officially added support of mandatory COVID-19 vaccination to its platform after members voted in favor of it at the 2023 Liberal National Convention, which took place from May 4 to May 6 in Ottawa.
The mandate would force all travelers on interprovincial trains, commercial flights, cruise ships, and other federally regulated vessels be COVID-jabbed. It would also mandate COVID injections for federal employees.
Furthermore, the new platform promises that a “re-elected Liberal government will”:
- Launch a $1 billion COVID-19 Proof of Vaccination Fund to support provinces and territories who implement a requirement for proof of vaccine credentials in their jurisdiction for non-essential businesses and public spaces.
- Table legislation to ensure that every business and organization that decides to require a proof of vaccination from employees and customers can do so without fear of a legal challenge.
“To finish the fight against COVID-19, protect people at work, ensure businesses can get back up to speed, and, most importantly, make sure our kids can safely return to school, we need to do everything we can to keep public spaces safe,” the Liberal Party’s website says.
“This is a rather frightening development,” Campaign Life’s Jack Fonseca told LifeSiteNews, adding that the decision likely came from Trudeau since “everything which comes out of the Liberal Party is top-down.”
“The totalitarian policies passed at a Liberal convention today will re-emerge as the Trudeau government legislation and regulations of tomorrow,” he continued. Fonseca saw the decision as an attempt to revive past COVID-19 regulations, including masks and “segregation policies” between the vaccinated and unvaccinated.
“We can’t return to these draconian policies, but it seems the Trudeau Liberals intend to drag us there,” he stated. “His vision of the future is the same as that Big Brother and ‘the party’ in George Orwell’s classic novel, 1984: ‘A boot stomping on a human face, forever!'”
Fonseca believed it was no coincidence that the Trudeau government passed the vaccine policy on the heels the internet censorship Bill C-11 allowing for government censorship of media, which Fonseca says could be “looked back upon in history as Trudeau’s Hitlerian moment.”
The proposed COVID policies would largely be a revival of some of Canada’s draconian vaccine mandates of 2021, when Trudeau’s government fired unvaccinated federal workers and barred unvaccinated citizens from domestic plane and train travel.
Coronavirus vaccines do not stop transmission of the virus, notably demonstrated by prominent COVID-vaccinated people contracting the virus. There is strong evidence that the “vaccinated” are just as likely to carry and transmit the virus as the unvaccinated.
Nevertheless the Trudeau Liberals’ platform also calls for encouraging “non-essential” businesses to mandate COVID jab passports.
“Proof of vaccination systems give people the confidence of knowing that others around them are fully vaccinated. They also help drive increased vaccination rates and give Canadians confidence that it’s safe to go to restaurants, shops, and out into their communities,” the new platform says.
The pro-mandatory injection Liberal platform comes weeks after Trudeau was slammed on social media after claiming he did not “force” anyone to take the COVID-19 shots, despite his government firing unvaccinated federal workers from their jobs and even barring unvaccinated citizens from domestic plane and train travel. Trudeau himself made a number of disparaging comments about unvaccinated Canadians.
Trudeau also finally recently acknowledged that there are “potential side effects in vaccinations,” but he insisted that such side effects are “rare” – despite the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC’s) Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) showing over 30,000 reported deaths after COVID vaccinations, in addition to over 65,000 permanent disabilities. www.foxnews.com Trans game developer launches first person shooter where players kill anti-trans villains, including priests Gabriel Hays 4 - 5 minutes A transgender video game developer recently launched a game where players can hunt down critics of transgenderism, like anti-trans feminists and Catholic priests, and kill them in a bloody, first-person shooter action.
Called "Terfenstein 3D," the game is based on the classic Nazi-fighting game "Wolfenstein 3D," one of the earliest first-person-shooters. "Wolfenstein" involved the main character navigating Nazi bases and taking out the villainous occupants with a wide array of deadly weapons. The fact that "Terfenstein 3D" is based on a Nazi shoot ‘em up is no accident.
Developer Sandra Moen, a trans person, intended to equate her games’ villains to Wolfenstein’s Nazis and allow the player the experience of eviscerating them onscreen. Moen admitted the game was meant to "draw a comparison between gender critics and Nazi Germany." VERMONT GIRLS VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS BANNED FROM LOCKER ROOM AFTER OBJECTION TO TRANSGENDER STUDENT: REPORT A new video game, titled "Terfenstein 3D" allows players to kill critics of radical LGBTQ activism.
The game launched on PC gaming platform Steam in January. In a description provided for the site by Moen, she claimed the game offers "LGBTQAI+, transgender, and feminist themes of gender-critical people and what a post-war apocalyptic world would look like if gender fascists won." Explaining the game’s setting in further detail, the description added, "In this dystopian world, fascists have killed and imprisoned all transgender and queer people, subjecting them to harsh conversion therapy, imprisonment, and death. You play as an escapee fleeing their detention center, while you exact your revenge."
As the name suggests, the player hunts down TERFs, or trans exclusionary radical feminists and other critics of trans ideology, who in the game’s universe have taken over society and turned it into a fascist dystopia complete with Nazi-looking flags and logos everywhere. As the game goes after prominent trans critics, the player is also called to kill what appear to be Catholic priests in addition to TERF soldiers and their loyal guard dogs. VERMONT MIDDLE SCHOOL SUSPENDS GIRLS SOCCER COACH WITHOUT PAY FOR ‘MISGENDERING’ TRANSGENDER PLAYER: REPORT 'Protect Trans Youth' protesters Demonstrators protest in support of rights for transgender youth. (Fox News )
Though the game features rudimentary graphics, much like the decades-old game it was inspired by, the violence is gratuitous as well as the blood, which coats the walls with every critic of transgender ideology you kill. Moen’s description added that the experience of playing this game "brings to light the very real transphobic violence many transgender people face for just existing." She also claimed developing the game helped her process her own process as a trans individual. "Developed over four months, this solo project is one of many controversial games the developer has made. Being able to artistically express yourself is a proven way to heal trauma and possibly also move on." The creator invited players to pick up the game so they too can heal, saying, "This game also hopes to achieve that for players who need it through gameplay that would stir up hidden and muddied emotions. Please take care of yourself and your loved ones." While advertising the game in February, Moen took shots at "Hogwarts Legacy," the major studio video game set in J.K. Rowling’s "Harry Potter" universe that released last month. Rowling has been labeled a TERF by many on the left for tweeting that womanhood is tied to biological sex. Moen tweeted, "Want to play something better than #HogwartsLegacy? Wan[t] to contribute to the trans community by supporting a trans game developer? AND KILL fascist TERF's? Try my game ‘Terfenstein 3D.’" J.K. Rowling Twitter Author J.K. Rowling commented on images of Members of Parliament standing front of a sign reading "Decapitate TERFs." The Pontifical Marian Academy inaugurated an “Observatory for Marian Apparitions and Mystical Phenomena” in mid-April.
Father Stefano Cecchin, President of the Academy, told AlfaYOmega.es (April 30), that [the stupid] bishops are "not prepared" to deal with apparitions.
So, his academy will do it. The bishop will then rubber-stamp ("decide") Cecchin's decision, which means: more Vatican centralism. Previously, each bishop was responsible for apparitions in his diocese.
Cecchin says that there are "warning signs" which show that an apparition is false, “Would a mother want to punish her children by sending them illness, death...?" he sentimentalises. His answer, "Not at all." According to him, apparitions that speak of God's punishments "are absolutely false.”
Consequently, the Gospels are "false" because Christ warns more of hell than he promises heaven.
The apparitions of Fatima, recognised by the Church, are also "false" because they warn of hell and contain a terrifying vision. The visionaries, little children, are told by Our Lady to atone for the sinners “so that God will not have to punish them too much” and that most of the souls in hell are there for sins against chastity.

Divine Mercy - A Novus Ordo devotion |

Why did the 1959 Holy Office Condemn the “Divine Mercy” Devotion?
Taken from here [sedevacantist references removed]
![[Image: ?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thecatholictelegraph...ipo=images]](https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thecatholictelegraph.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2018%2F03%2Fdivine-mercy-original.jpg&f=1&nofb=1&ipt=9e81ed78f43e5ce86e639002d140ce071d6b68b19bc02de4367e019b78f99208&ipo=images)
Only few people have never heard of the so-called “Divine Mercy” devotion. It has its origin in the alleged visions of a Polish nun by the name of Sr. Faustina Kowalska (1905-1938), a member of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy. The “Divine Mercy” devotion is extremely popular in the Vatican II Church, owing for the most part to the efforts of the apostate bishop Karol Wojtyla, first as the “Archbishop” of Cracow, then as Pope John Paul II.
A great number of traditional Catholics, as well, have been led to accept this devotion, which, unfortunately, is sometimes confused with the most noble and laudable devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which is based chiefly on the revelations of Our Lord to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque in the 17th century.
In the Novus Ordo Church, the “Divine Mercy” devotion has been intimately associated with John Paul II, who “canonized” Sr. Faustina as a “saint”, wrote a lengthy encyclical which focuses on the topic of divine mercy (Dives In Misericordia, 1980), and instituted “Divine Mercy Sunday” on the first Sunday after Easter, traditionally known as “Low Sunday” (Dominica in Albis Depositis). On “Divine Mercy Sunday” of 2011 (May 1), Pope Benedict XVI “beatified” Wojtyla, and the latter’s bogus “canonization” is likewise scheduled for “Divine Mercy Sunday” of 2014 (April 27).
Clearly, the “Divine Mercy” is the Novus Ordo devotion, almost a purported “heavenly” endorsement of John Paul II and his teachings (and thus the entire Novus Ordo religion). While this alone would suffice to render it highly suspect (to say the least), there is something even graver to consider: On March 6, 1959, the Holy Office condemned the devotion, prohibiting people from distributing its images as well as forbidding them from spreading the writings of Sr. Faustina that promote it:
The [...] text of the prohibition against the “Divine Mercy” devotion, as it appeared in the Vatican’s official collection of authoritative documents, the Acta Apostolicae Sedis, vol. 51 (1959), p. 271 [...] can be downloaded a PDF copy of the entire volume from the Vatican web site here.
True, the Holy Office at the time was under the ultimate supervision of Pope John XXIII, but, to keep things in perspective, he had been elected only 129 days prior (on Oct. 28, 1958 — see information here), and the officials of the Holy Office had all been appointed by Pope Pius XII: The Secretary then was Cardinal Giuseppe Pizzardo, the Pro-Secretary Cardinal Alfredo Ottaviani, and the Notary Mgr. Hugh O’Flaherty. In fact, it can be seen as even more damning an indictment of the “Divine Mercy” devotion that it was censured even under the Modernist Angelo Roncalli (John XXIII), the very originator of the Novus Ordo religion.
[...]Incidentally, the Novus Ordo Church retained its ban on the “Divine Mercy” for almost 20 years. It was not lifted until April 15, 1978 (see Acta Apostolicae Sedis, vol. 70 [1978], p. 350), due in large part to the efforts of the Archbishop of Cracow, Cardinal Karol Wojtyla (who would become Pope John Paul II a six months later). The reversal of the decision was justified by blaming the original 1959 condemnation on a “faulty translation” of the writings of Sr. Faustina (sound familiar?).

Biden admin orders Catholic hospital to snuff out sanctuary candle or lose all federal funding
'In requiring Saint Francis to extinguish its flame, you are trying to extinguish not just a candle, but the First Amendment rights of Saint Francis Health System, as well as vital healthcare for the elderly, poor, and disabled in Oklahoma.'

TULSA, Oklahoma (LifeSiteNews) — President Joe Biden’s administration wants to snuff out the light of the faith – literally.
The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) demanded that Saint Francis Health System in Oklahoma extinguish two candles – a small sanctuary candle that has burned since 1960 and another that has burned without problem for 15 years at another Saint Francis hospital.
If they don’t, the system will lose accreditation and all federal funding, jeopardizing healthcare for thousands of low-income, disabled, and elderly citizens. Yet, no other inspector in the healthcare system’s history has ever identified the small candle as a safety issue.
The Catholic hospital system is fighting back with the help of the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, an accomplished First Amendment litigation group.
“In requiring Saint Francis to extinguish its flame, you are trying to extinguish not just a candle, but the First Amendment rights of Saint Francis Health System, as well as vital healthcare for the elderly, poor, and disabled in Oklahoma,” a May 3 legal letter from the group, written by Senior Counsel Lori Windham, stated.
Windham noted that the administration’s actions violate the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) by requiring the hospital to hide its faith without a compelling government interest. The religious liberty group reminded the administration of professed Catholic President Joe Biden that Catholic Canon Law requires that a candle be lit wherever there is the Blessed Sacrament.
Becket noted:
Quote:The Code of Canon Law requires that wherever the Blessed Sacrament is kept, a special lamp must shine continuously. The living flame is so important to worship that the Fifth Chapter of the General Instruction of the Roman Missal expressly mandates that ‘a special lamp, fueled by oil or wax, should shine prominently to indicate the presence of Christ and honor it.’ Saint Francis believes that the laws governing the liturgy and chapel suitability have been divinely instituted by Jesus Christ Himself and that derogating from
these laws is an affront to God.
“There has not been a day in Saint Francis history where the living flame has been extinguished,” the group wrote. “And Saint Francis’s religious identity and mission are intimately united with the living flame of the sanctuary candle.”
The letter further noted that the candle is securely kept in the chapel and there are ample sprinklers around to cope with the unlikely possibility of the flame escaping. A fire marshal has already approved the flame in annual inspections and CMS’s own guidelines clearly allow for flames for religious purposes and primarily prohibit them in proximity to medical equipment.
Furthermore, the surveyor with the federal government incorrectly called the enclosed candle an “open flame.” When challenged, the bureaucrat changed his tune and said that lighter briefly used to light the candle is an “open flame” and violates federal safety standards.
Becket noted that the group has won six separate Supreme Court cases, including defeating the Obama administration’s birth control mandate on Hobby Lobby and other religious businesses as well as twice successfully representing the Little Sisters of the Poor. The second time included a defeat of efforts by leftist attorney generals such as Pennsylvania’s Josh Shapiro and California’s Xavier Becerra to violate the nuns’ religious liberty. Becerra now runs Health and Human Services, which includes CMS.
RFRA, the federal religious freedom law, states that government actors can only violate someone’s religious beliefs if there is a “compelling government interest” and their methods are the “least restrictive means” available.
But there are other flames permitted by CMS, which undermines its claim that snuffing out the sanctuary candle is the “least restrictive” way to ensure fire safety.
“There are over a dozen prudently managed flames around the hospital: from flames in the kitchen (pilot lights for stoves and ovens), to gas dryers in the laundry room, to flames in gas water heaters, to welding for electrical and construction purposes,” the letter noted. “Yet the government permits these flames, used for secular reasons, while prohibiting flames in a chapel, used for religious reasons.”
Furthermore, CMS officials have refused to work with Saint Francis on other solutions. “It could ask that Saint Francis add additional shielding, or inspect the flame to confirm it is nowhere near oxygen equipment,” the attorney wrote. “It could accept Saint Francis’s proposal to add tile on the wall and floor around the candle. The fact that the government hasn’t even entertained such alternatives shows that it has not and cannot demonstrate that it is using the least restrictive means for furthering its interest in fire safety.”
The letter said that if the administration does not back off it can expect to lose a lawsuit.
CMS threat continues Biden admin’s long war against faithful Christians
This is only the latest action the Biden administration has taken against people of faith. For example, his administration tried to force Catholic and other religious healthcare institutions to violate their religious freedoms and provide “sex change operations” to gender-confused kids.
His politicized Department of Justice has also conducted armed raids on pro-life Catholic fathers for alleged violations of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act. So far one of those charges against Mark Houck has already been dismissed by a federal court.
In October 2022, the FBI raided the home of pro-life advocate Paul Vaughn in front of his children and arrested him, charging him with “conspiracy against rights secured by the FACE Act, and committing FACE Act violations,” as previously reported by LifeSiteNews.
More recently, the FBI’s Richmond field office, in a memo signed off on by its top attorney, released an intelligence report which labeled traditional Catholics who like the Latin Mass or express skepticism about the benefits of the Second Vatican Council as “radical traditionalist Catholic[s).”
The FBI withdrew the memo after backlash. The intelligence product relied on questionable sources, including the disgraced leftist Southern Poverty Law Center and an Atlantic article that fretted about Rosary prayer beads being a symbol of extremists.

The Recusant.com:
Bishop Williamson: More Novus Ordo Madness!
Whereas we thought the issue had been dealt with, within recent weeks Bishop Williamson has released a series of “Eleison Comments” emails defending and elaborating on his novel position regarding the New Mass. Error, and indeed anything liable to harm or weaken the Faith, must be resisted vigorously, no matter from what quarter it emerges. Therefore some comment on this is necessary and unavoidable. We deal with them in reverse order, the most recent first. All the main (unattributed) quotes are from the “Eleison Comments” indicated.
Source: stmarcelinitiative.com/eleison-comments/back-issue/
1. ‘Eleison Comments’ No.438 (5th December, 2015):
“Catholics, be generous! Recognize God’s goal / To save, outside “Tradition,” many a soul.”
Bp. Williamson:
“However, these [Novus Ordo] miracles – always assuming they are authentic – have lessons also for the Catholics of Tradition who have to some extent or another stood back from the Novus Ordo framework.”
Recusant Comment:
Is it really wise to “assume they are authentic”? (See 2. ‘Eleison Comments’ 437, p.24)
Secondly, “Novus Ordo framework” seems to mean ‘the conciliar church.’ But Archbishop Lefebvre told us not just to “stand back from” it “to some extent or another”, but to have nullam partem, nothing whatever to do with it! What new lessons do Catholics outside the conciliar church need to be taught, and why? And how do these “lessons” differ from what Archbishop Lefebvre taught us? Here is what Archbishop Lefebvre and the old SSPX had to say about the “extent” to which we should “stand back from” the “framework” of the conciliar church:
- “We are suspended a divinis by the conciliar church, the conciliar church, to which we have no wish to belong! This conciliar church is a schismatic church because it breaks with the Catholic Church that has always been. It has its new dogmas, its new priesthood, its new institutions, its new worship… The church that affirms such errors is at once schismatic and heretical. This conciliar church is, therefore, not Catholic.” (‘Reflections on suspensio a divinis’, 1976)
- “I should be very happy to be excommunicated from this conciliar church… It is a Church that I do not recognize. I belong to the Catholic Church.” (‘Minute’ interview, 30th July 1976)
- “We have never wished to belong to this system that calls itself the conciliar church. To be excommunicated by a decree of your eminence…would be the irrefutable proof that we do not. We ask for nothing better than to be declared excommunicated…excluded from impious communion with infidels.” (‘Open Letter to Card Gantin’, 6th July 1988)
Bp. Williamson:
“Therefore the NOM and the Novus Ordo Church as a whole are dangerous for the Faith, and Catholics are right who have clung to Tradition to avoid the danger. But as they have had to put a distance between themselves and the mainstream Church, so they have exposed themselves to the opposite danger of an isolation leading to a sectarian and even pharisaical spirit, disconnected from reality.”
Recusant Comment:
Why did Archbishop Lefebvre say he was happy about something which is in fact dangerous? Was he really so ignorant and irresponsible? Why did the SSPX superiors in 1988 write to Rome asking for something dangerous?
Or is not this talk about the “danger” of being “isolated” the “mainstream Church” (note - not the ‘conciliar church’) exactly what we have heard in recent years from Fr. Pfluger and Bishop Fellay? Likewise the supposed “danger” of becoming “pharasaical”, “sectarian” and “disconnected from reality” if we are not more open minded towards the conciliar church? Did Bishop Williamson get Fr. Pfluger to write this for him..?!
Bp. Williamson:
“...while since the 1960’s a mass of Catholic sheep have become too worldly to deserve to keep the true rite of Mass, [yet] they have loved the Mass enough not to lose it altogether.”
Recusant Comment:
So: people were too worldly to have the true Mass, but they had some redeeming virtue, so God rewarded them a little bit by letting them have the Novus Ordo? Does this not imply that the Novus Ordo is ‘good but not as good as’ the Traditional Mass? Yet the SSPX always used to say that the Novus Ordo is evil.
If the Novus Ordo is evil, surely those Catholics who lapsed and ended up with no Mass were better off? Does not the experience of the last 40 years bear this out: Catholics who lapsed forty years ago still sound like Catholics when one talks to them, whereas Catholics who have been pickled in the un-Catholic Novus Ordo for the last 40 years have nothing about them which previous generations would recognise as Catholic. Two generations of SSPX priests have witnessed how the former often convert easily back to Tradition, whereas the latter are virtually irretrievable and much harder to convert. How can God use the Novus Ordo, a rite which replaces ones Faith with another religion, as a reward for those who “have loved the Mass enough”..?
Bp. Williamson:
“The NOM [Novus Ordo Mass] may have been allowed by God to make it easier for Catholics to leave the Faith if they wanted to, but not impossible to keep it if they wanted to.”
Recusant Comment:
This seems to confirm our suspicions about the portion quoted above. Last year an SSPX priest told the London congregation that whereas the Traditional Mass gives a waterfall of grace, the New Mass gives only a trickle of grace. This idea that the New Mass is only “not as good as” the Traditional Mass seems to be what Bishop Williamson is advocating too when he says that it “makes it easier for Catholics to leave the Faith … but not impossible to keep it.”
This is very, very different from saying that it actually destroys and is harmful to one’s Faith. Not having Mass, a chapel, the Blessed Sacrament to visit, a priest to confess regularly to, being poorly catechised as a child or ignorance of Catholic doctrine generally, having a non-Catholic spouse - these are all things which make it easier to lose the Faith. To use an analogy: not having enough food or water, shelter or warm clothing in winter makes it easier to die. But if an evildoer puts arsenic in your tea or turns the gas at night on so that you are poisoned to death while you sleep, that is something altogether different. One is a mere defect, the other a positive evil. Once again, here is Archbishop Lefebvre:
- “Let there be no mistake. It is not a question of a difference between Mgr. Lefebvre and Pope Paul VI. It is a question of the radical incompatibility between the Catholic Church and the Conciliar Church, the Mass of Paul VI being the symbol and the program of the Conciliar Church.” (Note to Agence France Presse, 12th July, 1976)
- “Well! It is precisely the insistent demands of those sent from Rome that we change our rite which makes us reflect. And we are convinced that this new rite of Mass expresses a new faith, a faith which is not ours, a faith which is not the Catholic Faith. This new Mass is a symbol, an expression, an image of a new faith, a Modernist faith.” (Ordinations sermon at Econe, 29th June 1976)
- “This Mass is not evil in a merely accidental or extrinsic way. There is something in it that is truly evil. It was based on the model of the Mass according to Cranmer and Taize. As I said in Rome to those who interviewed me: It is a poisoned Mass” (Abp. Lefebvre, 1981, see: ‘Biography of Marcel Lefebvre, p.465)
2. ‘Eleison Comments’ No.437 (30th November, 2015):
“The eucharistic miracles are where / God shows that He Himself is truly there.”
Bp. Williamson:
“Facts are stubborn - as long as they are facts. If readers doubt that the eucharistic miracle of 1996 in Buenos Aires is a fact, let them undertake their own research..”
Recusant Comment:
The limited research of this author, given limited time and resources, suggest a couple of concerns, not least that there seem to be several accounts of what took place, particularly how/where/when the host was dropped, and also that at least two of the scientists whose testimony plays a major part in the story are Novus Ordo Catholics.
Bp. Williamson: “But if their research of that case leaves them unconvinced, then let them look up the parallel case of Sokólka in Poland, where a whole centre of pilgrimage has arisen around a eucharistic miracle of 2008. And a little more Internet research would surely discover accounts of more such Novus Ordo miracles, with at least some of them being authentic.”
Recusant Comment:
In other words: “There are lots of miracles! There are so many that at least one of them has to be genuine!” Non sequitur. If one is false, they might just as easily all be false. Like the man who falls for one scam after another and says to himself: “One of them has to be genuine!” If there are bogus Saints and bogus miracles in the Novus Ordo, then all that tells us is that we cannot trust the Novus Ordo to give us genuine Saints and miracles.
Bp. Williamson: "This is because the NOM, like Vatican II which it followed, is ambiguous, favours heresy and has led numberless souls out of the Church…”
Recusant Comment:
The last part, that the New Mass “has led numberless souls out of the Church” is correct. That Vatican II “is ambiguous”, however, is a dangerous lie, one subscribed to for years by many a Novus Ordo conservative, and sold to us more recently by Bishop Fellay and the liberals in the neo-SSPX. There are many things in Vatican II which are not ambiguous, which have only one interpretation, and which are irreconcilable with Tradition (Dignitatis Humanae’s teaching on ‘Religious Liberty’ being perhaps the most infamous).
Bp. Williamson:
“Doctrinally, the NOM [Novus Ordo Mass] is ambiguous, poised between the religion of God and the Conciliar religion of man. Now in matters of faith, ambiguity is deadly, being normally designed to undermine the Faith, as the NOM frequently does. But as ambiguity is precisely open to two interpretations, so the NOM does not absolutely exclude the old religion.”
Recusant Comment:
“Normally” designed to undermine the Faith? Which it “frequently” does?! So not always, then? In other words, it is not intrinsically evil, only sometimes; whereas sometimes it does not undermine the Faith! Likewise, the Novus Ordo is not merely “ambiguous”!
As Archbishop Lefebvre says, “There is something in it that is truly evil”. Since the rest of what Bishop Williamson writes is based on that false premise (that the Novus Ordo is only ambiguous), his conclusion, that the Novus Ordo “does not exclude the old religion” is equally flawed. Again, Archbishop Lefebvre talks about the “radically incompatibility” between the old religion and the new one, epitomised by the New Mass. How can a thing be radically incompatible with something but at the same time not exclude it?
Bp. Williamson:
“That does not make the NOM acceptable as such, because its intrinsic ambiguity still favours the new direction, but it does mean for instance that the Consecration can still be valid, as Archbishop Lefebvre never denied. Moreover, if the eucharistic miracles are genuine, clearly not all Consecrations of Novus Ordo bishops or Ordinations of Novus Ordo priests are invalid either.”
Recusant Comment:
Discussion of validity is surely beside the point altogether. A priest who is a secret Satanist or Freemason, for example, might confect a valid sacrament in order to perform sacrilegious desecration. That it is valid is no consolation whatsoever, and is certainly no indication of whether good can ever come from attending it. Attending a satanic Black Mass would not help you get to heaven, even if it were valid.
Bp. Williamson:
“In brief, the NOM as such is bad as a whole, bad in parts, but not bad in all its parts.”
Recusant Comment:
All evil is only “evil in parts but not all its parts.” There is not such thing as “pure evil”, because the definition of evil is that it is the absence of a due good. A table with only three legs is a bad table. A table missing all its legs and the table-top cannot be so described. Only one part evil makes the whole evil. Therefore, what Bishop Williamson ought to say is simply “The Novus Ordo is evil.” (why ‘bad’?). As it is, what looks like a redeeming qualification is really no more than an rhetorical illusion.
Bp Williamson:
“What specified Vatican II and the NOM was precisely the officialisation of the modernist heresy within the Church. So does it not make sense that in punishment of their modern worldliness these sheep would broadly lose the true rite of Mass, while in reward of their desire for Mass they would not lose every valid Mass?”
Recusant Comment:
No, it does not. Almighty God does not “reward” people by giving them something evil, something poisoned, something radically incompatible with the Catholic Faith. One fares better attending no Mass at all than attending the Novus Ordo. Once again, the idea that the New Mass is somehow not as good as the Traditional Mass but still better than nothing, is novel, untrue, disproved by the experience of the past forty years. In its full implications this idea is also very, very dangerous to the Faith.
3. ‘Eleison Comments’ No.436 (21st November, 2015):
“God has worked miracles with the N.O. Mass? / That’s what the evidence suggests. Alas?”
Bp. Williamson:
“When in June of 1976 Archbishop Lefebvre was on the brink of ordaining the first large batch of SSPX priests despite Rome’s disapproval, a Roman official came to promise him the end of all problems with Rome if only he would celebrate one Novus Ordo Mass. On principle, for doctrinal reasons, he refused. Then how can Almighty God have worked eucharistic miracles with and for this new Mass? Read here next week a suggested answer.”
Recusant Comment:
It should be clear by now that Bishop Williamson’s ideas about the New Mass are at radical variance with those of Archbishop Lefebvre and the Society of St. Pius X of old. Archbishop Lefebvre was quite right to refuse to say the New Mass and to prefer suspension in 1976. With his final question (“The how can Almighty God…?”), Bishop Williamson sows doubt into the mind of his reader not only about the orthodoxy of the Novus Ordo Mass, but also about Archbishop Lefebvre and what he stood for. Was the Archbishop perhaps deliberately being difficult towards the Romans, just to make a point, where he could have chosen to be more accommodating and not been any the worse for it? Is it enough to say that he refused “on principle, for doctrinal reasons” and leave it at that? It is true, his refusal was principled, and it was for doctrinal reasons. But I rather suspect that Archbishop Lefebvre would have said that he had no right to say the New Mass, since it was evil and poisoned and was destroying the Faith of countless millions; that he had no option, that to have agreed and said the New Mass would have been a sin.
As to Bishop Williamson’s “suggested answer” to his own question, presented in the two subsequent Eleison Comments, we have already examined it above. In short, his answer is that the Traditional Mass is a reward for fidelity and lack of worldliness, whereas the New Mass is a lesser reward for ‘loving the Mass’. It is not as good as the Traditional Mass, but still good and does not exclude the old religion. If you feel tempted to leave the Faith, the New Mass will be less of an obstacle than the old Mass.
One thing we have avoided touching on is whether the Novus Ordo miracles are really genuine. Well? Are they? The simple truth is I do not know, at least in the scientific sense, but every Catholic instinct in me says no. Three possibilities occur. The first is that they are fakes and frauds. That is not impossible. The world is full of lies now like it never was before. Lies throughout the media, education, banking and finance, everywhere. People generally are more used to the idea that one tells lies to get ahead, they are numb to it. We know that the conciliar church is not above a little dishonesty, now and then, in order to get its way (if they can’t be trusted with the Third Secret of Fatima, why should they suddenly be trusted concerning these ‘miracles’?)
The second possibility is that we are witnessing something like the “signs and prodigies” which Sacred Scripture prophesies will be seen towards the end of times. Certainly, if these ‘miracles’ have the power to lead many Traditional Catholics including some souls with the Resistance and one bishop (who is not, though many think he is) to a softening towards the abominable Novus Ordo, then that might well be an example of “deceiving, if possible, even the elect.” I only suggest it as a possibility - I may be wrong, and I await correction from any priest who would care to put me right.
The third possibility is that they are genuine and are sent as a warning from Almighty God against the sacrilege of the Novus Ordo Mass. There have been cases of miracles warning people off sacrilege. In Belgium, a couple of centuries ago, some Jews stole a host and stabbed it with knives. It bled. They converted. Clearly, desecrating a host by stabbing it with knives is not something God wants us to do, and the miracle does not lend approval to the action which prompted it in any way.
One thing is certain. That Almighty God can be using miracles to give His divine seal of approval to the New Mass is not a possibility. What is worrying is that Bishop Williamson discusses none of the three possibilities mentioned above. Nowhere in three separate ‘Eleison Comments’ does he even entertain the idea that the ‘miracles’ might be fakes or prodigies. Nor does he suggest that they might be a warning against sacrilege. Instead, he begins with the assumption that they are genuine (which in itself is staggering, when you think about it) and talks about “facts” being “stubborn” as though the matter were already proven beyond question. He then proceeds to use that unfounded assumption to push through a novel teaching about the New Mass of his own device, one which is completely at variance with Archbishop Lefebvre. The entire fiasco is summed up neatly in, and hinted ominously by, one word: the last word of the little jangle at the start of the first email. (“Alas?”), its question mark loaded with suggestiveness.
I am not much of a dab hand at silly rhyming couplets, but in an attempt to summarise the whole sorry business, here is my poor offering:
The Bishop thinks the New Mass can be good?
That’s bad enough. What’s worse is why he would!
"Viva Cristo Rey!"
