St. Bernard of Clairvaux: Our Lady is the Universal Mediatrix |

Our Lady Is the Universal Mediatrix
In the name of ecumenism, many Marian devotions, especially the doctrine of the universal mediation of Mary, have been put aside and silenced. It is good for us, therefore, to show how the opposite should be practiced and stressed by true Catholics, following the example of the great Saints of the past.
In his sermon for the Second Sunday of Advent, St. Bernard instructs the people “to go up to Jesus by Mary for Jesus came down to us by her.” It is the age-old doctrine of the Church, which has always honored the Virgin Mary as the Universal Mediatrix of all Graces.
St. Bernard of Clairvaux
A virgin shall conceive and bear a Son (Is &:14). ... It is now surely clear how the Virgin is the royal way by which the Savior has drawn near to us, coming forth from her virginal womb as a Bridegroom from His bridal chamber. Let us endeavor, therefore, to go up to Jesus by Mary, for Jesus came down to us by her. Let us seek His grace through her by whom He came to succor our need.
O blessed Finder of grace! O Mother of life! O Mother of salvation! May we through thee have access to thy Son. May He, who was given to us by thee, receive us by thee. May He admit thy purity and, for its sake, forgive our impurities. May He give us the pardon of our pride, because of the pleasure He took in thy humility. May thy abundant charity cover the multitude of our sins. May thy glorious fruitfulness get for us fruitfulness of merit.
Our Lady, our Mediatrix, our Advocate, reconcile us to thy Son, commend us to thy Son, present us to thy Son. O blessed Lady, through the grace thou hast found, through the prerogatives thou hast merited, through the mercy thou didst bring forth, grant us that by thy intercession, Jesus Who deigned to become, through thy maternity, partaker of our weakness and misery, may, through thy intercession, make us partakers of His glory and bliss.

Advent 2023
Dear Friends of Those Who Seek Our Lord’s Face, as the Shepherds and Magi did so eagerly,
Greetings and blessings in this holy Advent!
Once again, let us turn to Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre to clarify more ongoing drizzles of
confusion.
1. Error: “It’s time to give a green (or yellow) light to the Thuc line.”
Truth: Here’s Abp. Lefebvre’s answer about priests seeking consecration from the Thuc line: “Archbishop Lefebvre totally condemned their actions and warned all Catholics to have nothing to do with them. ‘They will bring ruination and scandal on the Church,’ the Archbishop replied, when asked his opinion of the scandal-ridden ‘consecrations’. Archbishop Lefebvre also stated the the actions of Ngo-Dinh-Thuc, the former Vietnamese Bishop who participated in the so-called ‘consecrations’ are quite questionable in view of the fact that he is the same individual responsible for the Palmar de Troya fiasco… Soon after the questionable ordinations, Bishop Ngo-Dinh-Thuc renounced his actions and published a letter saying that the ‘orders’ he had conferred were null and void because he had withheld his intention of conveying orders to the Palmar de Troya sect. Given his past performances, there is no reason to believe that his present fiasco is any more credible… Referring to Ngo-Dinh-Thuc, Archbishop Lefebvre said, ‘He seems to have lost all reason’.” (The Angelus, June, 1982. See also: thecatacombs.org).
2. Error: “It’s not 1988, so it’s time for seeking a canonical solution, a personal prelature, or unilateral recognition from Modernist Rome and we approved this by signing six conditions for the agreement, in 2012.”
Truth: To this illusion, Abp. Lefebvre said: “We must not be under any illusions. We are in the thick of a great fight, a great fight! We are fighting a fight guaranteed by a whole line of Popes. Hence, we should have no hesitation or fear, hesitation such as, ‘Why should we be going on our own? After all, why not join Rome, why not join the Pope?’ Yes, if Rome and the Pope were in line with Tradition, if they were carrying on the work of all the Popes of the 19th and first half of the 20th century, of course! But they themselves admit that they have set out on a new path. They themselves admit that a new era began with Vatican II. They admit that it is a new stage in the Church’s life, wholly new, based on new principles. We need not argue the point, they say it themselves. It is clear, we must drive this point home with our people, in such a way that they realize their oneness with the Church’s whole history, going back well beyond the Revolution. Of course. It is the Fight of the City-of-Satan against the City-of-God! Clearly! So we do not have to worry. We must after all trust in the grace of God.” (Abp. Lefebvre, September 6, 1990 Conference in Econe, Switzerland).
3. Error: “The New Mass gives grace. The New Mass can nourish your faith.”
Truth: Abp. Lefebvre answers in no uncertain terms: “These New Masses are not only incapable of fulfilling our Sunday obligation, but are such that we may apply to them the canonical rules which the Church customarily applies to [i]‘communicatio in sacris’ with Orthodox and Protestant sects.”[/i] (Conference, November 8, 1979). “It is all wasted because the holy Sacrifice of the Mass, desecrated as it is, no longer confers grace and no longer transmits it.” (Abp. Lefebvre, Open Letter to Confused Catholics, ch. 3).
4. Error: “We cannot reject the scientific evidence for the New Mass Eucharistic miracles.”
Truth: But Our Divine Lord Himself warns: “For there will rise up false Christs and false prophets, and they shall show signs and wonders, to seduce (if it were possible) even the elect.” (St. Mark 14:22). “It must be understood immediately that we do not hold to the absurd idea that if the New Mass is valid, we are free to assist at it. The Church has always forbidden the faithful to assist at the Masses of heretics and schismatics even when they are valid. It is clear that no one can assist at sacrilegious Masses or at Masses which endanger our Faith. All these innovations are authorized. One can fairly say without exaggeration that most of these [New] Masses are sacrilegious acts which pervert the Faith by diminishing it.” (Abp. Lefebvre, November 8, 1979).
5. Error: “This is not the time for seminaries. This is not the time for structure and organization.”
Truth: Abp. Lefebvre thought diametrically the opposite: “Our Lord wants Catholic priests, such as He Himself made! The pope cannot not want Catholic priests! The Church cannot not want Catholic priests!…Hence, it is wholly untrue to say that we are in danger of becoming a sect or schismatics. It is far otherwise. It is we who are most nearly in union with our Holy Father the Pope and with the Catholic Church!” (Sermon of Abp. Lefebvre, September 8, 1975 in Mariazell, Austria). “It is our bounden duty, though all unworthy, to fight for the honor of God, the Catholic Faith, and priestly renewal as integral and as vital for Holy Church.” (Abp. Lefebvre, Letter to Libre Belgique, August 21, 1975).
6. Error: “Batten down the hatches!”
Truth: “As for me, I will not resign; I will not content myself with being present, my arms dangling, at the death-throes of my Mother the Church ... .We have to fight more than ever for the Social Reign of Our Lord Jesus Christ! In this battle we are not alone: we have with us all the Popes up to Pius XII, inclusively. All of them combatted Liberalism in order to deliver the Church from it. God did not grant that they succeed, but this is no reason to lay down our weapons! We have to hold on. We have to build, while the others are demolishing. The crumbled citadels have to be rebuilt, the bastions of the Faith to be reconstructed: firstly, the holy Sacrifice of the Mass of all times, which forms saints; then, our chapels, which are our true parishes; our monasteries; our large families; our enterprises faithful to the social doctrine of the Church; our politicians determined to make the politics of Jesus Christ!" ( Abp. Lefebvre, They Have Uncrowned Him, ch. 34, p.250-251).
Abp. Lefebvre believed in the Catholic Resistance as a true movement of Catholics, faithful to Tradition and determined to rebuild from the ground up, relying totally on the grace of God and Our Lady of the Rosary! Despite the chaos of our times, we resist and fight in the line of all the great Popes, Bishops, priests and laymen who would not mix Liberalism with Catholicism!
“The Revolution is the legal negation of the Kingship of Christ on earth, it is the social destruction of the Church,” said Msgr. De Segura. The conniving of the enemies of Christ prevailed at the Second Vatican Council. It is the Revolution! The Catholic Resistance is chiefly to proclaim the Kingship of Christ, working for the re-construction of the Church at every level and tirelessly resist the Modernist errors destroying her! Fight on, little flock! Great will be your crown in Heaven!
“Blessed are ye when they shall revile you, and persecute you, and speak all that is evil against you, untruly, for My sake: be glad and rejoice, for your reward is very great in Heaven!” (St. Matthew 5:11).
In Christ the King,
Fr. David Hewko

Man Beheads Satan Statue in Iowa Capitol: ‘Not All Heroes Wear Capes’

Catholic Vote [Emphasis mine] | December 14, 2023
A retired military officer and former congressional candidate destroyed a “holiday Satanic display” at the Iowa State Capitol Thursday.
According to the Republic Sentinel, Michael Cassidy of Mississippi “turned himself into police officers present in the Iowa Capitol, who confirmed that the Satanic Temple of Iowa desires to press charges.”
The Sentinel clarified that “Cassidy was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief.”
Cassidy, a Christian, said that he took action to tear down the display in order to “awaken Christians to the anti-Christian acts promoted by our government.”
“The world may tell Christians to submissively accept the legitimization of Satan, but none of the founders would have considered government sanction of Satanic altars inside Capitol buildings as protected by the First Amendment,” he told the Sentinel.
“Anti-Christian values have steadily been mainstreamed more and more in recent decades, and Christians have largely acted like the proverbial frog in the boiling pot of water,” Cassidy said.
“I saw this blasphemous statue and was outraged,” he added. “My conscience is held captive to the word of God, not to bureaucratic decree. And so I acted.”
Shortly after the news of his actions broke, Cassidy took to X (formerly Twitter) to quote the Bible verse 1 Peter 5:8: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”
Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk wrote on X that his organization “stand[s] with Satan Slayer [Cassidy], and is “proud to pledge $10,000 to his legal defense fund.”
“Not all heroes wear capes,” commented the popular X account End Wokeness.
“Death to Satan,” wrote conservative Catholic political commentator Jack Posobiec in a post featuring a picture of the fallen idol.
Cassidy is a Harvard graduate and retired pilot for the Navy. He ran for Congress last year, losing in the Republican primary to incumbent Rep. Michael Guest, R-MS.
He also ran for the Mississippi State House this year, winning the Republican primary, but losing to a Democrat in the general election.

Obamas’ Netflix movie preps nation for massive, incapacitating cyberattack, societal breakdown
Last January, global elites issued an alarming report: ‘Geopolitical Instability Raises Threat of Catastrophic Cyberattack in Next Two Years.’ One year is nearly up, so that leaves 2024 — the year of a critical U.S. presidential election — for the predicted cyberattack to occur, ‘placing every individual, organization and nation at risk.’
Massive cyberattacks begin in Obama-produced Netflix movie, Leave the World Behind.

Dec 13, 2023 -
(LifeSiteNews - adapted: not all hyperlinks included) — While delivering a look into the angst-filled, hopeless, joyless inhumanity of the urban woke, a new movie executive-produced by Barack and Michelle Obama is likely meant to serve as a form of conditioning — grooming if you will — of the population of the United States to accept what the World Economic Forum (WEF) has warned is a virtually inevitable, paralyzing cyberattack that will bring the nation and every American family to its knees.
It’s not just the United States that is vulnerable to such an attack: It’s the entire western world.
“‘Leave The World Behind’ is a new Netflix special produced by the Obamas about cyberattacks and a ‘global communications breakdown,’” Dutch conservative commentator Eva Vlaardingerbroek wrote on X.
“Watch this, then watch the video the WEF posted a few years ago warning about a future ‘cyber pandemic’ and tell me we’re not being programmed,” she urged.
Leave The World Behind is a disturbing apocalyptic drama, purportedly crafted with no particular moral or message.
“It’s not that kind of story,” explained Rumaan Alam, author of the book upon which the film is based, in a Variety interview. “I have no problem with like a big disaster movie that saves the six or eight principals and reunites them in the aftermath of a disaster and allows you to be like, ‘Well, everything’s gonna be okay.’ I just don’t think this is that kind of film.”
But the movie does in fact deliver a message and does so loud and clear: Human beings are terrible people, and we’re headed toward a just-around-the-corner future of societal chaos and despair. Its message stands in stark contrast with that of the Gospel and 2,000 years of lived experience of the Christian world.
The film’s message is in keeping with the despair-inducing actions of the Obamas while they occupied the White House: Race relations took a nosedive during the Obama administration, leaving a weakened and more divided America; the unraveling of the nuclear family and marriage accelerated, rolling out the red carpet for the plague of transgenderism; and via “The Life of Julia” citizens were nudged to entrust every aspect of their lives to the government rather than to strong, loving families.
In the movie, the lead female protagonist played by Julia Roberts experiences a woke epiphany [...]
Her pathetic husband, played by Ethan Hawke, later declares:
Quote:Without my cellphone and GPS, I am a useless man.
Libs of TikTok pointed out that the Obamas’ movie includes a scene demonizing the entire white race.
“I’m asking for you to remember that if the world falls apart, trust should not be doled out easily to anyone, especially white people,” says a young black woman played by actress Myha’la in the film.
And while critics seem to adore the film, viewers do not share their enthusiasm.
End Wokeness posted on X:
Obama just produced his first fiction film for Netflix called “Leave the World Behind.”
The critics absolutely loved it.
The audiences think it sucks.
What a shocker.
This is not a future audiences enjoy envisioning, but it’s one we are being told in no uncertain terms to prepare for.
In January, global elites gathered in Davos issued an alarming report: Geopolitical Instability Raises Threat of ‘Catastrophic Cyberattack in Next Two Years.
One year is nearly up, so that leaves 2024, the year of a critical U.S. presidential election, for the predicted cyberattack to occur.
“The disruption of operations or services and the compromise of data due to cyberattacks … places every individual, organization and even nation at risk,” the WEF report warns.
A whopping 93% of cybersecurity experts and 86% of business leaders surveyed by the WEF have, ostensibly, said this will happen in 2024.
With those expressed levels of confidence, the WEF seems to be guaranteeing that a globe-changing cyberattack will occur in 2024.
Klaus Schwab, WEF founder and author of The Great Reset, has described a scenario of a “comprehensive cyberattack which will bring to a complete halt … the power supply, transportation, hospital services — our society as a whole.”
“The COVID-19 crisis would be seen in this respect as a small disturbance in comparison to a major cyberattack,” Schwab said.
We have been warned.

SPONSA VERBI - THE VIRGIN CONSECRATED TO CHRIST
SPIRITUAL CONFERENCES by The Right Rev. Dom. Columba Marmion, O.S.B., Abbot of Maredsous Abbey.

Nihil obstat: Patricius Can. McGettigan. Censor Deputatus.
Imprimatur: + Henricus Epûs Tipasit. Edimburgi. die 5 Jan. 1925.
ALMAE DEIPARAE VIRGINI SEMPER INTACTAE
EDITOR’S PREFACE
These pages resemble a wreath laid on a tomb, for Dom Columba Marmion gave up his soul to God on January 30th, 1923, in admirable sentiments of devotion and with utter abandonment to the divine mercy.
A biographical notice is in preparation which will reveal the main characteristics of theologian, monk and apostle combined in his taking personality.
The same spiritual doctrine will be found here, as was revealed in his previous works; teaching impregnated with a living theology, profound knowledge of scripture, penetrating piety, and a profound knowledge of souls. For souls he had a great passion. He gave himself entirely for them that they should be all for Christ.
But if his affection embraced all, like his Divine Master, he was specially attracted by two classes: the sinners, and those consecrated by vows of chastity. One day his zeal for his erring brethren will be known and with what tender compassion his eyes rested on countenances seared with the leprosy of sin.
The following pages show to what heights of perfection he urged the spouses of Christ, who form, as it were, the elite of the flock of the Good Shepherd.
For purposes of health Dom Columba was ordered by the doctors to take some weeks of rest during the summer of 1918, at the time that the chronic trouble which gradually undermined his constitution began to manifest itself. He went into Luxembourg to recruit his strength, and there he enjoyed to the full the beauties of nature by which he was surrounded. As a companion for his long, solitary walks in the forests of the Ardennes, he took the Commentary of St. Bernard upon the Canticle of Canticles." In spite of its length and digressions he was captivated by the subject: its sublimity, the abundant citations from Scripture, the enthusiasm of the holy Doctor narrating the examples of Divine Love: all these were well calculated to move a soul as supernaturally disposed as that of Dom Columba’s. But more than the beauties of nature, more than the flowing style of the Doctor Mellifluous, Dom Marmion admired the marvels worked by God in these souls.
His lively and penetrating faith showed him during the contemplation in which his reading plunged him, the marvellous condescension of the Word toward his privileged creatures: the theme of the Canticle itself.
Dom Columba generously communicated the spiritual lights he received to souls that were eager for them; consequently, on his return he gave a series of conferences to the nuns at the Abbey of St. Scholastica at Maredret, commenting on a text of St. Bernard that had specially struck him; in this passage the great Doctor indicates the conditions necessary for the soul aspiring to become the spouse of the Word.
Although these conferences were given to Benedictine Nuns, they are not specifically monastic; there is hardly an allusion to the rule of the great Patriarch of the West.
Dom Marmion has outlined his subject in its widest and most exalted aspect, prescinding from any special rule or constitutions; his theme being: The soul consecrated by the vows, becomes by virtue of that consecration the spouse of Christ.
Despite its title, there is nothing here that is essentially mystic in nature. However advanced the union which the Word wishes to contract with the dedicated soul, that union is derived essentially from the consecration and apostolate, the state of perfection which springs from it; there is no necessity that phenomena of an extraordinary nature shall be added to complete it.
The conferences we publish here were carefully collected and noted down by their hearers. We believe that these pages reproducing their delicacy of expression and depth of thought will be well received.
May their perusal by the virginal souls for whom they were intended arouse in them an ardent thanksgiving for the great graces they have received, for is it not a sublime privilege to have been chosen quite gratuitously by Christ to be espoused to Him? May these instructions, whilst they inspire gratitude, at the same time enkindle more intensely in souls the knowledge of their pre-eminent dignity, inspiring them in their daily efforts to attain the high perfection to which they are called.
This was surely the lofty aim which Dom Marmion had in view when he gave these conferences, and poured out into them his priestly and apostolic soul.
Before his death these conferences received his approbation, and now that they are published, we trust that they will prolong the beneficent and supernatural effects of his apostolate.
In attaining a larger circle of influence, may they reach not only the large number of Religious already consecrated to Christ, but also reveal to those still in the world the high ideal they inwardly aspire after.

Major Pharmacies Release Customer Medical Records to Police Without Warrants. Here Are Some of Them.
ResisttheMainstream | December 12, 2023
The pharmaceutical industry is held in low esteem by most Americans.
Complaints of releasing customer’s medical records to police and government agencies without warrants are now added to accusations of gross price gouging.
According to the Washington Examiner, which cited the Monday release of a Congressional Investigative Report, “Several major pharmacies” have released confidential medical information to “local law enforcement and federal investigators without warrants.”
Disclosed information includes prescription history and medical records. Additionally, the report revealed that pharmacies released this information without notifying the customer before or after the fact.
Offending companies include RiteAid, CVS Pharmacy, Kroger, Walgreens, Boots Alliance, Cigna, Optum Rx, Walmart, and Amazon Pharmacy.
Several government leaders have pledged to enact policies to prevent this practice in the future. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Reps. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) and Sara Jacobs (D-CA) reportedly sent a complaint letter to the Dept. of Health and Human Services.
An excerpt from the letter sent to Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, read: “Through briefings with the major pharmacies, we learned that each year law enforcement agencies secretly obtain the prescription records of thousands of Americans without a warrant.”
The letter continued: “In many cases, pharmacies are handing over sensitive medical records without review by a legal professional. Although pharmacies are legally permitted to tell their customers about government demands for their data, most don’t.”
Pushing back, a CVS Health spokeswoman said the company’s processes are consistent with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, a federal law designed to protect patient privacy.
CVS Health spokeswoman Amy Thibault told the Washington Examiner in a statement that “The Office for Civil Rights, the agency that enforces HIPAA, has reviewed our processes on multiple occasions and deemed them to be compliant. Additionally, our processes are consistent with industry practices.”
Thibault, however, suggested a process review and recommended a judge-issued subpoena be requirement before medical information is released to third parties in the future.
Concerned lawmakers concur. Their letter to Becerra read: “Pharmacies can and should insist on a warrant, and invite law enforcement agencies that insist on demanding patient medical records with solely a subpoena to go to court to enforce that demand. The requirement for a warrant is exactly the approach taken by tech companies to protect customer privacy.”

Sioux City man arrested, charged with murder of Catholic Priest in Nebraska

By KTIV Staff | Dec. 10, 2023
FORT CALHOUN, Neb. (KTIV) - A Sioux City man has been arrested and charged with murder after a Nebraska priest was killed early Sunday morning in his place of residence.
This happened in Fort Calhoun, Nebraska in Washington County, a small town outside of Omaha.
Police say they learned of an attempted break-in around 5 A.M. at the rectory of “Saint John the Baptist Church” in Fort Calhoun. Deputies found Father Gutgsell suffering from injuries after being stabbed.
They also found a black male suspect inside the rectory, according to authorities.
Father Gutgsell was taken to Nebraska Medicine where he died from his injuries. Gutgsell served as an associate pastor with the Archdiocese, most recently splitting his time between the Fort Calhoun parish and St. Francis Borgia in Blair.
Father Stephen Gotgsell(KTIV, Archdiocese of Omaha)
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested and charged 43-year-old Kierre L. Williams of Sioux City with homicide and use of a weapon to commit a felony. He was booked into the Washington Co. Correctional Facility.
The Archdiocese of Omaha said in a statement the church is closed for the time being.
The Archdiocese of Omaha is praying for Father Stephen Gutgsell, who was assaulted during an invasion at the rectory of St. John the Baptist parish in Fort Calhoun early Sunday morning. Father Gutgsell was transported to Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, where he died of his injuries. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating, and there are no further details at this time. Please join Archbishop George Lucas in prayer for the repose of Father Gutgsell, for his family, and for the St. John the Baptist parish community in this tragic time.
Statement from the Archdiocese of Omaha
According to records, Gutgsell pleaded guilty in 2007 to theft by deception for embezzling $127,000 from an area church. He was sentenced to probation and was ordered to pay restitution. He was later reassigned to a different church.
His brother, Rev. Michael Gutgsell, also pleaded guilty to theft charges in a separate incident in 2021.
Authorities at this time say they do not believe Gutgsell’s death is related to his criminal history.

Abp. Viganò announces house of formation to train priests who will resist ‘errors of Vatican II' |

NB: This announcement indeed potentially portends good news however certain lingering questions are as of yet unanswered, for example, who are the priests chosen as seminary professors? Were they ordained in the traditional or in the Novus Ordo Rite, which Archbishop Viganò notes in the below announcement that
there are 'disturbing changes to the rite of conferring Holy Orders'? Will Archbishop Viganò considered being conditionally re-consecrated as he himself was consecrated in the new Novus Ordo Rite which can be doubtful? With Archbishop Viganò's seemingly inching closer to sedevacantism, will the new seminary acknowledge Pope Francis as Pope, both in their Masses and in their studies? These questions and others will need clarification before we can fully support the new seminary.... but we hope our concerns are shown to be baseless and good fruit is poured out in this endeavor!
Also of note, Archbishop Viganò laudably refers twice to Archbishop Lefebvre in his announcement as a praiseworthy model in realizing the need for seminaries. But this also begs the question, why Viganò did not choose to simply throw his approval and weight behind the SSPX and their seminaries? Perhaps there too he sees the infiltration of the errors of Vatican II? We notice, while praising Archbishop Lefebvre, he does not include the current SSPX hierarchy!

On December 2, the President of Exsurge Domine offered hospitality in Torrita di Siena for the celebration of Mass on the First Saturday of the month, followed by a reception attended by a number of friends and supporters. It was an opportunity to get to know each other in person – or to meet again – and to let you know about the decision to undertake the establishment of the Collegium Traditionis, the house of clerical formation that will welcome young traditional vocations and accompany them with discernment toward the Priesthood: I invite you to read my homily for a more complete picture. Needless to say, this ambitious project responds to an obvious pastoral need of the faithful – especially in Italy – and to my duty, as Successor of the Apostles, to ensure a doctrinally and morally safe harbor for new and holy Vocations: only with a long-term view, projected toward the future of our children, will we be able to create the basis for the rebirth of a genuinely Christian society. Without workers, you know well, the Vineyard of the Lord bears no fruit.
By now you will have learned of the unilateral decision of the Nuns of Pienza not to continue on the path they had taken and to abandon the Monastic Village project, which Exsurge Domine had generously offered them. Without going into the merits of the choice of the Benedictine Community, I would like to reiterate – as the President has already had the opportunity to communicate – that what has been done so far thanks to your support will not be interrupted, but will simply be adapted to the new destination of the properties and buildings: no longer a cenobium for nuns, but a Seminary and a place of retreat for those who feel called to the service of God. I also believe that this change has allowed the realization of something more urgent and certainly desired by Divine Providence. Of course, I cannot help but feel sorry for the attacks made against Exsurge Domine; but you know better than I that any work that has a supernatural purpose is targeted by the devil. So let us not be surprised if even our efforts – however prudent and conscientious they may be – are made the object of ungenerous criticism and slander: this will rather enable us to commit ourselves with greater confidence to the Lord’s help.
This new issue of the Exsurge Domine Newsletter is published on a special and symbolic occasion: the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. And it is under Her patronage that we place our apostolate, our activity, our commitment, but also your families, your intentions and concerns. To Her, our Queen and Lady, we entrust ourselves, our loved ones and all of you, whose prayers and material support have made possible what has been done so far. I trust that we can count on your help and that of so many generous people to support all that remains to be accomplished.
With deep gratitude, I wish you all to spend Advent in a spirit of preparation for the Nativity of Our Lord, accompanied on this journey of waiting and prayer by the maternal protection of the Immaculate Virgin.

Adeamus cum fiducia ad thronum gratiæ, ut misericordiam consequamur, et gratiam inveniamus in auxilio opportuno. (Heb 4:16)
Dear Brothers and Friends, on this first Saturday of December, the Introit of the Votive Mass in honor of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is an invitation for us to turn to the Mediatrix of all Graces, to the One who is Almighty by grace, while the world and the Church are besieged by an attack that seems to overwhelm everything in general apostasy.
Let us approach the throne of graces with confidence, to obtain mercy and find graces to help us in the right time. These are the concluding words of the fourth chapter of the Epistle to the Hebrews, in which the Apostle speaks to us of Christ the High Priest: There is no creature that remains hidden from him, but all things are naked and open in his eyes, and to him we must render an account (Heb 4:13). And immediately afterwards: Having therefore a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us remain firm in the profession of our faith (Heb 4:14).
The reason why the Church wanted to propose as part of the Mass of the Immaculate Heart a passage of Scripture relating to her Divine Son lies first of all in Virgin Mother’s role of Co-Redemptrix. Ego sum ostium (Jn 10:7) the Lord said – “I am the gate” – and that doorway of grace is the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, wide open to welcome each one of us. But we also invoke Mary Most Holy as Ianua Cœli, the Gate of Paradise. Christ the Lord is Universal Mediator, by virtue of His Incarnation, Passion and Death; Our Lady is Mediatrix, by virtue of Her Divine Motherhood and Her Compassion at the Cross of her Son. Devotion to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and to the Immaculate Heart of Mary is a powerful refuge for us, especially when the Passio Christi continues in the Passio Ecclesiæ: not only in its individual members, but in the entire ecclesial body. It is in these hours of darkness and apostasy, when all seems lost, that the pierced Heart of the Savior opens in the immolation of love to the repentant soul, and the Heart of the Virgin, pierced by the sword, beats in unison with that of Her Son.
Ours is a world without love, because it is without God. A world in which God has been banished from society and, as horrible as it may seem, in which the same enemies that rage in the secular world would also like to oust Him from the Church, turning her into a Masonic sect subservient to the New World Order. The Civitas Dei seems to be a distant memory of a bygone era, while the Civitas diaboli is established in almost all once-Christian nations. But we forget that the Civitas Dei is not a utopia that deceived our fathers, but rather the necessary realization of the words of the Apostle: Oportet autem illum regnare, donec ponat omnes inimicos sub pedibus ejus. It is necessary for Our Lord to reign until He has placed all His enemies under His feet (1 Cor 15:25).
There are, therefore, enemies – and today we know well who they are – destined to be humiliated by the King of kings, and their fate is sealed; it is only a matter of time. Enemies who today have united – consilium fecerunt in unum (Ps 70:10) – in an infernal alliance between the deep state and the deep church, to hasten their delirious plan of global domination. A project that is the exact opposite of that regnum veritatis et vitæ; regnum sanctitatis et gratiæ; regnum justitiæ, amoris et pacis of which the Preface of the Feast of Christ the King speaks. The kingdom of the Antichrist is a kingdom of lies and death; a kingdom of perversion and damnation; a kingdom of injustice, hatred and war. And if in the economy of Redemption everything that comes to us from God is freely given and the fruit of His generous magnificence, where Satan reigns everything can be monetized, everything is bought and sold, everything has a price.
The restoration of the Divine Kingship of Our Lord cannot be attained, however, without first restoring the Catholic priesthood, on which depend the survival of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the Most Holy Eucharist, and the sacramental grace by which souls are sanctified. And just as a body cannot subsist without a heart, so too the Catholic Church cannot live without the priesthood, through which the Eucharistic Sacrifice, the beating heart of the Mystical Body, is perpetuated on our altars.
As proof of this supernatural reality, we can see the pitiful state in which the Church finds herself today, a victim of the distortion of the priesthood and the falsification of the Mass: the disastrous collapse of priestly and religious vocations on the one hand, and on the other, the deformation of young people in the few surviving seminaries, which are now corrupt doctrinally and morally. Since the great reform of the Council of Trent we had witnessed a revival of religious orders and clergy, helped in this by a wise discipline that forged saints. Since the so-called “conciliar reform,” we have seen churches, seminaries, convents and Catholic schools emptied. Out of the eagerness to please the world, to follow fashions, and not to seem reactionary, the postconciliar Church has been reduced to insignificance, after having deprived the faithful and clergy of that priceless patrimony that has proved valid and effective over the centuries. It is difficult not to see in the Second Vatican Council the blatant contradiction of two thousand years of faith.
The providential work of Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, beginning with the immediate postconciliar period, had the indisputable merit, on the one hand, of denouncing the estrangement from the immutable lex credendi, and on the other of understanding the threat to which the priesthood was exposed with the introduction of the reformed liturgy and with it the disturbing changes to the rite of conferring Holy Orders. The priests of the new church became “presidents of the assembly” and their ministerial role was progressively silenced and forgotten, precisely because there was no longer to be an alter Christus who sacrificed the Immaculate Host on the altar to the Eternal Father, but rather a mere delegate of the people who presided over a fraternal agape around a table.
For this there was no longer any need for a High Priest, a King, a Prophet. This is why the kingdom of Christ must be restored also and first of all in the bosom of the Church, recognizing that for sixty years now the modernist Hierarchy has methodically erased and denied any reference to the doctrine of the social kingship of Christ reaffirmed only a few decades earlier – in 1925 – by Pius XI. On the other hand, the Innovators could have achieved very little if they had not taken steps to eliminate this obstacle to the laicization of society and, paradoxically, of the Church itself. By now it is evident: Christ the King and Priest is the stumbling block of conciliar neomodernism and even more so of the last ten years of the “Bergoglian pontificate.”
Italy, blessed by God, who providentially desired that the See of the Papacy would be located in Rome, now follows the ruin of other Catholic nations which have become apostates and rebels against Christ. The Italian Church has also sunk into ruin, and the Italian Bishops’ Conference is totally subservient to the new Bergoglian course. The Bishops of the Italian Dioceses are either silent or else convinced supporters of Bergoglio. Most parish pastors, priests, and religious follow the synodal wind like weather vanes, and the few dissenters do not dare to react publicly.
For this reason, I believe the time has come to give a new impetus to Exsurge Domine, the Association I founded a few months ago. I wished to reserve this particular occasion which sees us gathered today in the house of the President of Exsurge Domine to announce that the Monastic Village at the Hermitage of Palanzana in Viterbo, initially intended to help the Benedictine Sisters of Pienza, will become, God willing, a house of formation for clergy which will take the name Collegium Traditionis, since the Sisters have recently decided to dissociate themselves from the project that Exsurge Domine had offered them.
The Collegium Traditionis will be the first and only traditional Italian reality destined for a seminary, equipping itself with teachers and spiritual guides of sure orthodoxy and solid spirituality, under my supervision.
This passage follows in some way the initiative of the venerable Archbishop Lefebvre, but it differs from it in its Italian and Roman flavor, and also in consideration of the different ecclesial context today compared to the situation of the 1970s. We will therefore have vocations and ordinations for Italy, to restore the Catholic priesthood in the homeland of St. Ambrose and St. Charles Borromeo, St. Robert Bellarmine, St. Pius V and St. Pius X, and all the Saints whose our beloved Italy is honored.
I am well aware of the challenge that this project represents, but I am equally confident that, where the intention is right, the Lord will not fail to bless our commitment to the service of the Church and to protect Exsurge Domine from the attacks to which it will certainly be subjected. However, my commitment and that of my confreres will need the help and collaboration of those whom, as Saint John Chrysostom writes, the Lord has endowed with material means to make them cooperators and instruments of Providence. Good things belong to the Lord, says the great Doctor of the Church, and the rich are those who have the privilege of administering the riches that God has granted them to use for good. For this reason, dear Brothers and Friends, I urge you to become ministers of Providence yourselves in this ambitious project, in the awareness that this work of charity of yours – obviously accompanied by a supernatural gaze – will serve Italy first and foremost, indeed the Italian people, given the total absence of a traditional seminary in this region. Your children and your children’s children deserve not only to grow up and be educated in a Christian family, but also to have Ministers of God who do not betray their vocation, and who continue, even in times of apostasy, to do what Christ commanded the Apostles and their Successors, remaining faithful to what the Holy Church has always taught.
The joy of cooperating in the urgent needs of the Church goes hand in hand with the pride of carrying out a meritorious work for our country as well, because it is only through the sanctifying action of the Sacraments and the Holy Mass that the Italian people will be able to rediscover the pride of their faith and find the courage to resist the subversive project now underway. But in order for this to be possible, good and holy priests are needed who are not subjected to the blackmail of having to accept the errors of Vatican II or the deviations of Bergoglio in order to exercise their ministry. If you think of the few clergy of the former Ecclesia Dei Institutes, or of the secular and regular priests scattered throughout the Dioceses and Religious Orders, you can easily understand why today an institute of independent clerical formation is more indispensable than ever: not because independence is to be pursued in itself, but because the abuse of authority on the part of the Vatican and diocesan Bishops effectively prevents any authentically Catholic and truly traditional pastoral activity.
At this rite today we have four priests of Familia Christi and two seminarians present. Their past history should serve as an example of this systematic persecution that the Bergoglian Church is waging against anyone who deviates from the avowedly antitraditional line of this “pontificate.” These priests have had the opportunity to understand first-hand the absolute falsity of the alleged parrhesia so praised by Bergoglio. And I can testify that the persecution they suffered gave them the opportunity to understand that no compromise can be accepted, least of all in doctrinal, moral and liturgical matters. But how many other priests, how many parish priests, how many monks and friars, how many young vocations remain isolated and sterile, because there is no refuge to welcome and assist them?
For this reason, I am sure that all of you will be able to seize the opportunity that is given to you, each according to his or her own means, both spiritual and material, to contribute to the work of Exsurge Domine. In this regard, St. John Chrysostom also admonishes those whom the Lord has made rich, reminding them of the task they have of making themselves cooperators in the magnificence of God, of being in some way stewards of His goods, created and granted not to nourish selfishness and the lust for power, but in harmony with the divine order, for the glory of the Most Holy Trinity and for the Good of souls.
This evening, with First Vespers of the First Sunday of Advent, the Holy Church prepares to celebrate the Birth of the Redeemer. The first and last Sundays of the liturgical year instruct us with the Gospel of the end times, showing us how everything begins and is fulfilled in Christ, King and High Priest, Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. We find ourselves in an interregnum between the coming in humility of the Incarnate Word and His return in glory; an eternal glory: cujus regni non erit finis, as we recite in the Creed. Well, in this time of trial and mercy that prepares us for liturgical Advent as well as the final coming of the Lord, we have the possibility of meriting the beatitude of heaven by fulfilling the Will of God, in Faith animated by good works.
An eschatological outlook leads us to believe that we are now living in the end times, and that the time has come to look realistically at the struggle to which we are called. Non præteribit generatio hæc donec omnia hæc fiant. This generation will not pass away before all this happens (Mt 24:33), the Lord warns us. We need to understand the privilege we have received of witnessing the final stages of the epochal war between God and Satan; a war already won by Our Lord on the Cross, but which is waiting to be sanctioned by the triumph of Christ and the definitive defeat of the Adversary. It is a privilege that consists above all in being witnesses of this victory, precisely when the apparent success of the enemies suggests that all is lost and the Church has been defeated and overthrown. But was this not also the case after the Savior’s death, after His burial, when the Apostles had abandoned the Lord and shut themselves up in the Upper Room? The Passio Ecclesiæ is not unlike the Passio Christi, and there is no glory of the resurrection through it without first suffering the sufferings of Calvary. In this the words of the Apostle are fulfilled: Instaurare omnia in Christo (Eph 1:10) means precisely restoring all things in Christ, understanding that the Cross is the throne from which the Divine King reigns, and that the Church, His Mystical Body, must also rediscover her own identity and mission by ascending Golgotha as well.
Let us so live that the Child King, whom we will soon adore with the shepherds and the Three Magi Kings, may illuminate this valley of tears, warm our hearts, and inflame our wills: so that at His triumphant return as Rex tremendæ majestatis each one of us may be called to His right hand: voca me benedictis.
And may the Blessed Virgin – whose Immaculate Heart was chosen by the eternal Son of the Father to be the domus aurea, the palace of the King of kings – deign to offer all that we have returned in this life to Our Lord, in the confidence that we will receive back a hundredfold. May the imminent Feast of the Immaculate Conception spur us to trust in the Blessed Virgin, who alone overcame all heresies and who in her humility – a model for us all – deserved to be able to crush the head of the ancient Serpent. To the Immaculate Conception, our Mother, Lady and Queen, I entrust in a very special way the Exsurge Domine Association and all those who support it with the spiritual help of prayer and with the material help of charity. Let us ask her to answer our supplication and make us worthy of Christ’s promises. And so may it be.
